What is Needed to Perform a Funeral
 
 
CHURCH

1. Coordinate time with funeral home.
2. Appoint priest.
3. Meet with family to review service.
4. Perform vigil service.
5. Perform funeral.

FAMILY

1. *Select funeral home.
2. Notify family members.
3. *Select type of funeral: traditional, immediate burial or cremation.
4. *Financial arrangements.
5. *Make selections at funeral home.
6. *Information on insurance, family, etc.
7. Choose deceased's clothing.
8. *Purchase plot or secure plot information.
9. *Arrange for flowers.
10.*Arrange for pall bearers.
11.*Write obituary.
12.*Service arrangements with church and music director.
13.*Select readings and music.
14. Select family or friends for offertory, readings and eulogy.
15.*After service reception size and location.
16.*Notify relatives, work and organizations.
17.*Coordinate travel arrangements for out of town travelers.
18.*Arrange airport pickup.
19.*Get house in order for visitors and guests.
20.*Arrange for house sitters and/or baby sitters.
21. Clothing, etc. for yourself and family.
22. Receive and return countless calls and visits.
23. Attend vigil.
24. Arrange family transportation at funeral service.
25. Attend funeral service and reception.

FUNERAL HOME

1. Coordinate time with family and church.
2. Meet with family to make selections.
3. Prepare contract and receive money.
4. Transport body.
5. Prepare body.
6. Receive flowers.
7. Carry out their paid for services.
